Circular Design | Materials Research | Product Development | Cross-Functional Collaboration
Worked with Nike's retail, apparel, and footwear teams to explore reusable alternatives to traditional packaging and develop solutions that could extend beyond a product's initial purchase.
Projects included developing reusable shopping bags for Nike's House of Innovation, researching reusable shipping systems, and collaborating with product teams on reusable packaging components and accessories for special collections and sustainable product launches.
For Space Hippie, this included exploring shoe bags made from recycled materials that could serve as both protective packaging and a useful accessory customers would keep.
The work focused on reducing single-use materials while considering product protection, manufacturing, sourcing, customer experience, and the practical challenges of implementing reusable systems at scale.
Worked on reusable shopping bag development for Nike's House of Innovation, exploring how retail packaging could become a useful, lasting product rather than something customers discard after purchase.
The project brought together sustainable materials, bag construction, functionality, and retail presentation, balancing Nike's brand experience with opportunities to reduce single-use packaging.
01 — Reusable Bag Development
Exploring reusable alternatives to conventional retail shopping bags, with an emphasis on durability, functionality, and continued use beyond the store.
I worked across packaging and retail considerations to explore designs that customers would want to keep and reuse. The goal was to make sustainability part of the shopping experience without compromising the quality, function, or visual impact expected from a Nike flagship store.
This work reflects an approach I've always been interested in: designing products and packaging together, considering the full life cycle of materials, and finding ways to make sustainable choices more useful and desirable.
02 — Material & Construction Considerations
Evaluating materials and construction approaches that balance environmental impact, durability, aesthetics, and customer experience.
03 — Retail Experience & Brand Integration
Considering how reusable shopping bags fit into Nike's House of Innovation retail experience, combining practical functionality with the visual expectations of a flagship store.
04 — Packaging as a Product
Rethinking shopping bags as useful products in their own right, rather than single-use packaging, to encourage longer product life and reduce waste.
05 — Circular Design Thinking
Applying a broader life-cycle perspective to retail packaging, considering material selection, repeated use, durability, and end-of-life implications.
